Went for the Bass clinic above. For those who dont know who Stu Hamm is:
He's the bassist for many of the G3 concerts.
There at Timbre, my jaws dropped seeing how he slapped, tapped and played invoking so much emotions. Think he's fingers are like rubber and the bass guitar's neck like an extension of his body.
But, I think the most inspiring thing that really kinda stuck to my mind was when he was explaining why he picked up the bass guitar. He said something in the likes of causing emotions, happy, sad, miserable, etc. He took his bass guitar as an soloist instrument, I think that really struck me coz I have always treated my bass as an accompanying kind of instrument. I always felt that those who slapped or tapped the bass extensively were showoffs who juz wanted their seconds of fame. But seeing and hearing how he plays seeing how he can express himself so much thru 4 strings and the best thing is that he really works hard at the bass to get the feel he wants..
I think maybe I can really try to make this instrument as he calls it "my craft" not just an accompanying instrument that I sorta know how to play. Well, he also said that if we are jus gonna go up to stage and tap and slap and do all sorts of fancy things but dont keep the bass tight den might as well play guitar instead.
Kinda reminded me of when I first started playing the bass, I felt I could really express myself thru it. But at the same time also muz remember the role of the bass player that the band is as tight as its bassist and drummer.

From yesterday's My Utmost for his Highest
Quit praying for yourself and spend your life for the sake of others as the bondservant of Jesus. That is the true meaning of being broken bread and pour-out wine in real life.
This teachings have been on my mind lately. "Quit praying for yourself"..
Maybe lately i m been thinking too much abt helping myself esp now tt I m partially immobile. It takes longer for me to walk to do stuff. U know u keep worrying abt yourself like how am I supposed to recover faster. Can I? or Why is e bandage so itchy or the brace so tight. I kinda think pple should u know at least make sure i m well but I kinda forgot that even within the space of my own home, there are pple with greater needs than I do..

Title: Over my head (Cable car)
Artist: The Fray
I never knew
I never knew that everything was falling through
That everyone I knew was waiting on a queue
To turn and run when all I needed was the truth
But that's how it's got to be
It's coming down to nothing more than apathy
I'd rather run the other way than stay and see
The smoke and who's still standing when it clears
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
Let's rearrange
I wish you were a stranger I could disengage
Just say that we agree and then never change
Soften a bit until we all just get along
But that's disregard
Find another friend and you discard
As you lose the argument in a cable car
Hanging above as the canyon comes between
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
And suddenly I become a part of your past
I'm becoming the part that don't last
I'm losing you and its effortless
Without a sound we lose sight of the ground
In the throw around
Never thought that you wanted to bring it down
I won't let it go down till we torch it ourselves
And everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
Everyone knows
She's on your mind
Everyone knows I'm in over my head
I'm in over my head
I'm in over...
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
When will u realise...

Title: How To Save A Life
Step one you say we need to talk
He walks you say sit down it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
You begin to wonder why you came
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And pray to God he hears you
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
How to save a life
How to save a life
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
How to save a life

"It is one of the defining marks of Our Time that God is now weightless. I do not mean by this that he is ethereal but rather that he has become umimportant. He rests upon the world so inconsequentially as not to be noticable. He has lost his saliency for human life. Those who assure the pollsters of their belief in God's existence may nonetheless consider him less interesting than television, his commands less authoritative thanm their appetites for affluence and influence, his judgment no more awe-inspiring than the evening news and his truth less compelling than the advertisers' sweet fog of flattery and lies. That is weightlessness. Its a condition we have assigned him after having nudged him out to the periphery of our secularized life."
- David Wells (taken from don't waste your life, John Piper)
Its so accurate, whether big or small the decision I think I also nudged him out to the periphery of my secularized life. Something to ponder abt huh?

I did a DiSC profiling test today as part a job training. Vincent who is my friend and also the trainer was explaining the different traits of the different profiles its alot mmore extensive than wat is seen below but this is like the longest i can find online. The test seems to be 80% correct, its interesting that I seem to agree to almost of the character traits of my profile. I guess maybe the emploters can understand how u usually deal with work and can place u in positions that can ultilise these traits?
Anyway,
For me I am a S i C D, high S and 2nd highest i

• Steadiness: This dimension measures how people cooperate within their current environments. The higher the score the more they express their loyalty, patience and dependability. They are superb listeners and calming agents in stressful situations because they love harmonious relationships and avoid conflict. They prefer safety, security and predictability with no sudden changes.
• Influence: This measures how one tends to persuade and influence others to change your environment. A high score indicates their level of optimism and ability to generate enthusiam. They tend to be spontaneous, agreeable, and accepting of others. They are verbally expressive and desire freedom from a lot of rules and regulations.
• Conscientiousness: This measures how we respond to fear and our desire for accuracy and quality details. A high score indicates a high desire for clearly defined expectations with a structured system to accomplish tasks. They work toward high quality and accuracy and want recognition when they achieve it. They like to have the option to ask "why" questions so that theycan perform within the system boundaries.
What is a DiSC Profile?
A Profile is a self-assessment learning tool, commonly referred to as a survey or inventory. The 28 question DiSC is not a "test" that you can pass or fail. It is easy to take and score, and indicates your preferred behavior patterns and tendencies within four dimensions. DiSC Profiles show the relative strength of each of these behavioral approaches and expresses your overall behavioral style as one of 15 patterns.
The preferred behavior expressed across four primary dimensions are:
• Dominance: This dimension measures how one tends to overcome daily challenges and obstacles. A person scoring high in the D dimension is motivated by crisis, challenges and promblem solving. They prefer a fast pace, multi-tasking and the authority to make decisions for themselves and others to achieve specific goals. They can be demanding and direct in their speech with others and themselves.
• Influence: This measures how one tends to persuade and influence others to change your environment. A high score indicates their level of optimism and ability to generate enthusiam. They tend to be spontaneous, agreeable, and accepting of others. They are verbally expressive and desire freedom from a lot of rules and regulations.

Shared this during our KRCF retreat. What was written really sank in and shook me awake too.
Sacrifice
Where are the young men and women of this generation who will hold their lives cheap and be faithful even unto death?
Where are those who will lose their lives for Christ's sake - flinging them away for love of Him Where are those who willl live dangerously and recklessly in His service Where are His lovers - those who love Him and the souls of men more than their own reputations or comfort or very life
Where are the men who say "no" to self; who take up Christ's cross to bear it after Him: who are willing to be nailed to it in college or office, home or mission field; who are willing, if need be, to bleed, to suffer and to die on it?
Where are the men of vision today? Where are the men of enduring vision?
Where are the men who has seen the King in His beauty, by whom from henceforth all else is counted but refuse that they may win Christ? Where are the adventurers, the explorers, the pioneers for God who will count one human soul of far greater value than the rise and fall of an empire? Where are the men of glory in God-sent loneliness, difficulties, persecutions, misunderstandings, discipline, sacrifice, death?
Where are the men who are willing to pay the price of vision?
Where are the men of prayer? Where are the men who, like the psalmist of old, count God's Word of more importance to them their the daily food? Where are the men who, like Moses, commune with God face to face as man speaks with his friend, and unmistakably bear with them the fragrance of the meeting through the day?
Where are God's men in this day of God's power?
- Howard Guinness
Read it again...where are these men and women?
Collide lyrics - Howie Day
The dawn is breaking
A light shining through
You're barely waking
And I'm tangled up in you
Yeah
I'm open, you're closed
Where I follow, you'll go
I worry I won't see your face
Light up again
Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills my mind
I somehow find
You and I collide
I'm quiet you know
You make a first impression
I've found I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind
Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the stars refuse to shine
Out of the back you fall in time
I somehow find
You and I collide
Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to ryhme
Out of the doubt that fills your mind
You finally find
You and I collide
You finally find
You and I collide
You finally find
You and I collide
"I've found I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind"

Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) Lyrics
Artist:Chris Tomlin
Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, Amazing grace
The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, Amazing grace
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, Amazing grace
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine
Indeed..my chains are gone, I have been set free..

Friends Dont Let Friends Dial Drunk - Plain White Ts
Those are all very beautiful words
But actions speak louder
In case you haven't heard, I'm all alone
While you're out on the town drinkin' with your friends
You can say all these beautiful things
But they don't mean nothing
No, they don't mean a thing
Gotta back it up
But you keep backing down
Tell me how this ends
If you think it's possible then anything is possible
But I think you're impossible
I hope you prove me wrong
You only call me after you've had a few
You only want to hang out when you've got nothing to do
Don't tell me you love me and act like you don't
Oh, if you really want me you just gotta let me know
Same old thing happens every night
You get me going, and then you say goodbye
I'm heated up
And you just leave me there to take care of myself
Don't get mad, don't get all wound up
Just get your act together, or baby give it up
Just let me know if I should hit the road or if you want my help
If you think it's possible then anything is possible
But I think you're impossible
I hope you prove me wrong
You only call me after you've had a few
You only want to hang out when you've got nothing to do
Don't tell me you love me and act like you don't
Oh, if you really want me you just gotta let me know
You only call me when there's no one around
You only wanna come up when you know I'm going down
Don't tell me you love me and act like you don't
Oh, if you really want me you just gotta let me know
You gotta show me you mean it, if you really mean it
You're talking to me like you mean it, and I don't believe it
You only call me after you've had a few
You only want to hang out when you've got nothing to do
Don't tell me you love me and act like you don't
Oh, if you really want me you just gotta let me know
You only call me when there's no one around
You only wanna come up when you know I'm going down
Don't tell me you love me and act like you don't
Oh, if you really want me you just gotta let me know
You only call me after you've had a few (oh oh oh)
You only want to hang out when you've got nothing to do (oh oh oh)
Don't tell me you love me and act like you don't
Oh, if you really want me you just gotta let me know

Southeast Asia Project
Oh myh gosh...Its finally done. Finished. Handed up.
We spent countless days editing the video, taking the video, doing the report. I really hope we can do well for this. We went round Yishun on Sunday, filming vacant house, urban myths, searched for hidden temples, treaded on unknown paths and interviewed many. WE were doing a project on SEA-n supernatural beliefs and rationalization.
Here are some fotos I took of the trip.
