TOKYO - It takes tough managers to succeed in Japan's cut-throat instant noodle business, and one company wants to ensure that it has the toughest - through ramen noodle boot camp.

Nissin Food Products gave the world its first taste of instant noodles - chicken ramen - on Aug 25, 1958.

To mark the noodles' 45th anniversary, the Osaka-based company wants its newly promoted managers to spend three days on a tiny, deserted island.

They will learn to dig their own toilets, make fire from dry leaves, catch their own fish and even carve their chopsticks from local bamboo.

Yesterdae..tis poor doggie walked into our camp..
Tis is how pitiful it was..
1. its fur was almost gone on e chest area e exposed skin had
patches of black all over..
2. Its fur was covered by hardened mud tt coudnt be removed.
N this hardened mud was all ard its forehead..sides of its belly n its tail n
legs..
3. It had wounds on e forehead, sides of its belly n had catarat on its left
eye..
so poor thing as we had one hour to spare..
we opened a can of tuna for it n poured acup of water for it
then after considering n planning I took Jason's old t-shirt n took
it for a bath..When i put it on e washing bay it tried to escape but i
couldnt muaahhahaha..i carried it back while attempting to escape..i
could feel e e hardened skin..disgusting..Poured Dettol all over it and carefully
round e wounds..Try as i may i couldnt scrub off e mud it was there for too long..
after a few mins i gave up..dried it n put it in a old rabbit's cage(e rabbit's dead
already) Shivering cold but still cute n curious abt its surroundings it lay in e cage
n we departed for kallang..Fren volunteered to come back todae n bring to it to a vet
or something to be put to sleep..At least it was kinda cleanedbg4 death its only
consolation..E others didnt wan me to sit wif them on e bus trip..they complaint i was stinky...

Water bottle bacteria risk cited

Students trying to save a buck by reusing water bottles should be aware that they’re risking their health.

Dangerous bacteria and potentially toxic plastic compounds have been found in the types of water bottles typically reused in schools and workplaces countrywide, reported the Canadian Press.

A study of water bottles, authored by Cathy Ryan of the University of Calgary, found bacteria in elementary school children’s bottles that would prompt health officials to issue boil-water advisories, had the samples come from a tap.

The bacteria likely came from the kids’ hands and mouths over time as they repeatedly used the same bottles without washing them or allowing them to dry, said Ryan.

Researchers discovered bacterial contamination in about a third of the samples collected from kids’ water bottles. Some samples even showed evidence of fecal coliforms.

Dr. Gerry Predy, Edmonton’s medical officer of health sent out a public warning to keep the bottles clean.

Single-use soft-drink and water bottles are commonly made of a plastic called polyethylene terephthalate (PET) which, while considered safe for its intended use, was found to break down over time.

The Canadian Bottled Water Association recommends that bottles be used only once. The International Bottle Water Association also recommends using the bottles only once.

“These convenience-sized PET containers are designed and intended for single use only and easy recycling and compatibility with the recycling system. After consumption of the product, PET containers should be placed in a recycling bin for collection or returned for deposit, where and if applicable,” said vice-president of communications Stephen R. Kay.

Dr. Richard Rowland, a doctor at Algonquin’s health centre, agrees that bottles should only be used once, especially during the summer because heat causes bacteria to grow faster.

Preliminary research conducted by a graduate student at the University of Idaho suggests that the kind of thorough washing that could kill bacteria might make the bottles unsafe in another way.

Frequent washing might accelerate the break-down of the plastic, potentially causing chemicals to leak into the water, their study found.

“The fact is, a lot of these compounds have not really been studied in terms of their human health effects,” Margrit von Braun, a University of Idaho professor told the Canadian Press.

Plastics experts contend the bottles are safe. The study ultimately concluded little is known about what happens when the bottles are reused.

“The longer you used it, the more stuff ended up in the water,” said von Braun.

Karen Chiarelli, a secretary in the health center, was unaware of these findings, “I wash my bottle in the dishwasher,” she said.

One of the toxins that frequently appeared in water samples from the reused water bottles was DEHA (diethylhydroxylamine), a carcinogen regulated in drinking water because it has been found to cause weight loss, liver problems, or possible reproductive difficulties.

Intro: All these are dirt jump bikes used for dual slalom..bike super cross..or even freeriding..
wat makes them so unique is e extra strong frame n extra welds at e joints to prevent cracking due
to e impact off landing from a table top, turn down, x--up or bar spins..act very pro here haha..wanna
do this but cannot due to e fragileness of my frame..this bikes need strong parts=more weight =hard
to climb had a hard time tinking of whether to take e XTC coz its very fragile but noe i do more road n
cross country stuff so...maybe next time..

Xc need light bikes..Freeriding need bikes tt can take e damage(heavier)..Dh-er even
stronger bike muz be able to take droping 2 storeys n more..even e componets are diff for
xc n freeeriding so muz really consider horz..dont be dumb buy one bike for 1 use..waste money..can be used to feed e poor..=)

Attached out for tennis tot didnt need to tell CSM tt i was
going off..so we e tennis players left for home..whne i reached Jurong.
my pl. mate called me to ask me to go back...Csm not happy wif us not
reporting to him..After a bit of negiotation we went back only to find Csm
had booked out n he had given me n Liow 2 extras each within one
weekend..ie..sat n sun guard..was very fed up being played out..i took a cab
down 20bucks!!..someone pls refunding e fu*king money..

had to get an email written until den we had to join e coy in training..i was like wat

charge to speak to our Csm n write tt email...Being such a pain in e ARSE..i decide not

Yea..passed e tennis selections went for training for 2 days in camp
lousy court we have...rubber track one with lots humps n uneven ground..
But been improving alot esp. my serve getting my fame fitness back esp. e serve n
pushing myself to even greater goals..Elbow seems to be injured after 1 hr of intense
serve training been hurting since..whole body's aching too...

Hmmm..Got tennis selections tomolo..Wish me luck..if i pass i will be able
